Khamenei tweets graphic of Obama with a gun to his head
Iran’s supreme religious leader Ayatollah Khamenei tweeted a picture Saturday of President Obama committing suicide.
Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei tweeted a graphic of Barack Obama with a gun to his head.
On top of the graphic, a message warns that though the “U.S. president has said he could knock out Iran’s military”, that is not the case. “We welcome no war, nor do we initiate any war, but.” the tweet read.
Since the announcement of Western power’s deal with Iran earlier this month, the country’s religious leader has been active in denouncing the US on social media.
A similar warning was also contained in a separate tweet from the account of Khamenei.ir, sent out July 18, but without the accompanying picture.
British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said in a statement “Our policy is to recommend against travel to an area when we judge that the risk is unacceptably high”.
Speaking to Al Arabiya, via the Washington Times, Kerry stated that he had to take Khamenei’s declaration that U.S. policies in the region were “180 degrees” opposed to Iran’s, which he made with a kalashinikov in his hand, “at face value”.
Khamenei also praised Iran’s negotiating team for “doing the best they could” during the talks.
The Twitter messages by Khamenei is seen as continued denunciations of the West despite the landmark nuclear deal which resulted in easing travel advice to Iran by the British government on Saturday. “If it’s the policy, it’s very disturbing, it’s very troubling”.
Khamenei, for his part, says that producing, stockpiling or using nuclear weapons is against Islamic law, despite evidence that his country was pursuing a program to build them.
