Canon 1D X Mark II
We already learned a few details about the new Canon EOS-1D X Mark II, although the rumor of it being the very first SLR to accomplish 120 fps HD was not correct.
The EOS-1D X Mark II will be available from May 2016 with an RRP of £5,199.99/€6,999.99.
The EOS 1D X Mark II features two slots – a CompactFlash slot and a CFast 2.0 slot. Additional improvements have been made to the 61-point auto-focus (AF) system which now features 41 cross-type AF points. Canon has just unveiled the EOS-1D X Mark II, a camera which is said to combine the 1D X and the 1D C plus several significant enhancements. The camera is also capable of providing AF with up to f/8 aperture, and comes with an ISO range of 100 to 51,200 that can be extended to 409,600. When combined with the EOS-1D X Mark II’s high-sensitivity full-frame CMOS sensor, the new camera’s ability to record Full HD video at frame rates up to 120p will allow videographers to produce high quality slow motion video even in extremely lowlight. The camera is designed for professionals and will succeed the EOS-1D X. When mounted on the EOS-1D X MARK II, it allows wireless connection between smartphone and the camera, allowing photographers to remotely control the camera for still image shooting, movie recording and transferring of images from camera to smartphone all via Canon’s Camera Connect app. The EOS-1D X MARK II is also equipped with a USB 3.0 port for high speed data transfer.
The EOS-1D X Mark II is the most responsive EOS DSLR to date, thanks in part to the new Dual “DIGIC 6+” processors providing high-speed processing of the vast image data captured by the sensor. The combination of the Dual Pixel CMOS AF and a rear touchscreen can be used to select the camera’s AF point before and during video recording. With this, users can easily switch focus by tapping the LCD panel for AF point selection in Live View mode. The metering sensor is at 360,000-pixel to help in recognition and tracking High Density Reticular up to 61 points. In response to feedback from professional EOS users, the AF points in the EOS-1D X Mark II camera’s Intelligent Viewfinder II can be illuminated in red for improved visibility, especially when shooting in dark locations. In-body lens aberration is possible with its new Digital Lens Optimizer technology. The EOS-1D X MARK II uses the K390 battery, which has a 10% increase in capacity compared to the LP-E4N used in the EOS-1D X. For the first time in the EOS-1D series, Global Positioning System is built into the body of the camera.
