India sweep Australia in thriller
India has got ICC No. 1 Ranking in T20 with this clean sweep of the series with Australia and India in this form before the ICC T20 Word Cup is increasing more expectations on the team.
To rub salt into Australia’s wounds, Raina (49 off 25) was given a chance on zero by wicketkeeper Cameron Bancroft who missed a stumping off Cameron Boyce’s bowling.
“But I think we will play spin better in those conditions than what we have played in the last week”.
Yuvraj, who did not get an opportunity to bat in the last two matches, was sent in ahead of captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni at No 5 and though the left-hander struggled initially to put bat on ball, he produced the goods when his team needed.
India completed a total whitewash of the three match T-20 series against Australia, defeating the hosts by seven wickets in the third and final Twenty20 match to win the series 3-0 today in Sydney.
“There’s not a hell of a lot to worry about, it’s more about solidifying our roles”, Watson said.
However, experienced Watson, dropped from the One-Day International (ODI) series, showed why he is still a force to reckon with as he kept punishing the Indian bowlers.
“This is the playing eleven that I would like to see in the World Twenty20”, said Gavaskar when asked about his take on India’s World T20 squad.
“There’s no doubt that will happen for the South African tour, in the lead up to the T20 World Cup”.
Yuvraj came in to bat for the first time in the series, with Raina having already begun setting up the finish, and the equation soon boiled down to India needing 22 from the final two overs.
The much-talked spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin proved a tad too expensive for India as they conceded 77 runs in eight overs between them. “So with me, Yuvraj and Dhoni in the middle-order, we have the required experience”.
While talking to a daily, the India Test skipper said, “I think it has got to do with the family, my father was a Leo, and he could fight”.
Former Test opener also went on to say that knowing the Indian batting lineup, he was never “over-confident” regarding big first inning score in the third T20I.
