The Power Rangers Movie Just Cast Rita Repulsa, And She’s ideal
In the film, Banks will oppose the new Rangers team composers of actors RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludy Lin, Naomi Scott and Dacre Montgomery. It feels like she’s been behind the camera a lot lately, so it’ll be interesting to see her in a pivotal role in the Power Rangers movie adaptation.
Saban’s Power Rangers has found its Rita Repulsa in Elizabeth Banks.
Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz wrote the script. It will purportedly “reimagine” the “origins” of the teenage Power Rangers, hopefully not completely ruining the cheesy beauty of the original series, which American children of the ’90s enjoyed in all its over-dubbed glory. They didn’t have to reach far for Elizabeth Banks, who starred in Lionsgate’s own Hunger Games franchise.
A new Power Rangers movie is on the way and it’s got an awesome evil villain.
Lionsgate has set Power Rangers to be released on July 22, 2016.
Banks tweeted about it as well, writing “After 10,000 years, I’m free!” Played by actresses Machiko Soga and Carla Perez in the show (with voice dubbing by Barbara Goodson), each episode featured the character summoning some kind of monster for the Power Rangers to fight, and then making it grow with the help of her magic wand. “It’s time to conquer Earth!!⚡️ Time to play #RitaRepulsa #PowerRangersMovie”.
