Avatar 2 Release Date Announced And Production Begins In April
“Avatar 2” is the sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 film of the same name. Star Hugh Jackman revealed last week that the script was finished, although he wouldn’t say exactly when production will get started.
Production is slated to begin very soon on some of the most highly-anticipated movies for 2017 (and beyond) and thanks to My Entertainment World, we have an idea of when and where some of these features are set to begin production. No release date has been set for the first of three sequels.
“Avatar 2″ is set to begin shooting in April, around Tax Day, in New Zealand. While news on three further Avatar movies have been recently forthcoming from Cameron, it appears that there may be another reason for the push-back – according to The Express, this may well be in response to Star Wars Episode VIII having been delayed to December 2017 – meaning that two sci-fi giants would potentially square off – and potentially lose money in the progress. It includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang. There are also other sequels in the works although no further details have been announced.
Meanwhile, “The Wolverine 3” is still aiming for March 3, 2017 release. Although considering it’s been seven years since the first Avatar came out, it’s hard to say whether audience interest will still actually, y’know, exist – be it the number one box office hit of all time or not. Warner Bros. Untitled Blade Runner Project will start shooting in July in the United Kingdom and Hungary, although the studio hasn’t set a release date quite yet.
Alien: Covenant begins production in April in Sydney, Australia.
Transformers 5 starts filming in May. Michael Fassbender is expected to be the only returning cast member from Prometheus (Noomi Rapace might have a small role) with the film set to land in theaters on October 6, 2017. Filmmaker Michael Bay recently confirmed he would direct Transformers 5, though there isn’t a set release date for the sequel starring Mark Wahlberg. Rupert Sanders will be directing Ghost in the Shell which will star Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbæk, and Sam Riley.
