Helen Mirren Rails Against ‘Oxygen Wasting’ Drunk Drivers in Super Bowl Ad
In the ad, Mirren sits in a musky bar, in front of a juicy cheeseburger and fries – a Budweiser bottle of beer isn’t missing, either.
Actress Helen Mirren serves this impassioned message on behalf of Budweiser in a forthright new commercial set to air during this Sunday’s Super Bowl.
The British actress urges drinkers to put down their vehicle keys.
As Mirren puts it, “If you drive drunk, simply put, are a short-sighted, utterly useless, oxygen-wasting, human form of pollution”. In the spot called “Simply Put”, Mirren tells viewers in unexpected and powerful terms that driving after drinking is selfish.
Anheuser-Busch has another ad running during the game that features Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen stripping down for Bud Lite, as well as one for its Shock Top craft brew starring T.J. Miller.
The Super Bowl is this Sunday, when millions of Americans will be partaking of alcoholic beverages-as is their right.
A-B’s ShockTop will air its first Super Bowl commercial on February 7, but the brewer posted an extended version of the ad starring comedian T.J. Miller trading barbs with the brand’s Wedgehead mascot. The company will also debut a 30-second spot titled “Not Backing Down”, which features its iconic Budweiser Clydesdales.
In the advert, he attempts to explain with sign language that he is the designated driver but unintentionally inspires the entire nightclub to emulate his moves.
