Both Eisenhauer and Keepers are students at Virginia Tech, which is located in Blacksburg.
Police have not said how Nicole, from the college town of Blacksburg, Virginia, died on or about January 27.
Lovell’s mom, Tammy Weeks, said police told her Lovell met the college student online.
High school classmates of David Eisenhauer – a Virginia Tech freshman charged Saturday with killing a 13-year-old girl – are reportedly in disbelief that he could be responsible for her death.
Blacksburg police Lt. Mike Albert, right, listens as Blacksburg Police Chief Anthony Wilson speaks during a news conference Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, in Blacksburg Va. Virginia Tech student, David Eisenhauer, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Nicole Madison Lovell, whose remains were found in North Carolina.
Eisenhauer and Keepers face felony charges for the disappearance and slaying of Nicole Lovell, a middle-schooler from Blacksburg.
Eighteen-year-old David Eisenhauer is charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder.
Along with Eisenhauer, authorities also charged Natalie Keepers, 19, with improper disposal of a body and accessory after the fact in the commission of a felony.
Keepers was double majoring in oceanic engineering and aerospace engineering, with dreams of working for NASA, said Pangburn, who attended Hammond High School and Virginia Tech with Keepers. Neither had a prior criminal record.
Lovell’s family said she disappeared after pushing a dresser in front of her bedroom door and climbing out a window.
Lovell’s body was found Saturday about 100 miles from her home.
Lovell’s family pleaded for the public’s help in finding her because she needed daily prescription medication for a liver transplant and didn’t have the medicine with her, police said.
She said Nicole was bullied on social media and at school, particularly about her appearance.
Both warrants state that no firearm was used in the alleged offense. The Sun said Eisenhauer had moved to Columbia from Yakima, Washington, for his junior year and quickly became a star on the East Coast.
– The clues: Police said Eisenhauer was acquainted with the girl, but did not provide any details, including what led officers to him.
Meanwhile, police spent Monday morning searching a pond on the Virginia Tech campus for more evidence tied to the case.
Nicole, who was born in Radford, Virginia, loved pandas and decorated her room with the stuffed bears and pillows covered with the “Minions” animated movie characters, her mother said.
“The serious charges against Eisenhauer came as a shock to James LeMon, principal of Wilde Lake High School, where Eisenhauer graduated in 2015 before enrolling at Virginia Tech to study engineering and run for the Hokies track team”.
“When she grew up, she wanted to be on American Idol”, Weeks said.
The result of an autopsy performed Monday was not expected until just before the next court hearing on March 28, the prosecutor’s office said.
Lovell was described as “an awesome little girl” who had a tough life. “We can’t get our heads around it”.
He says, “We want the citizens of Blacksburg and the surrounding area to know that they will see an increase of heavy law enforcement presence in Blacksburg”. “We will continue to be very transparent with you during this investigation, but please remember these are the kinds of crimes that rip communities apart”.
