DISH goes live with Hopper 3 super-STB
Hopper 3 was first debuted at the CES 2016 convention held in Las Vegas in the previous month. The new media device was supposed to hit the market by the end of January and after a rather tiny delay has arrived now in the beginning of February.
Also newly available to DISH customers is the 4K Joey client, compatible with all HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2-compliant televisions. This feature, along with 4K Netflix streaming in the coming weeks and a selection of 4K movies on-demand, should help compensate for Dish’s lack of TV channels in the higher-resolution format. The device, which packs 16 tuners, gives users the ability to simultaneously stream four HD channels in a single 4K TV in a feature known as Sports Bar Mode. Hopper 3 also features 2 TB worth of internal storage, which is capable of saving about 500 hours of HD programs.
In the coming months, DISH will launch YouTube on Hopper 3, bringing viral videos and content from a new generation of entertainment stars to the TV screen via a set-top box.
16 tuners – Hopper 3 contains 16 tuners, making it easy for viewers to watch shows in multiple rooms, view live programs remotely via DISH Anywhere and set multiple recordings, all at the same time and without the need to manage conflicts or cancel timers.
4K ultra HD content, and has the capability to handle a total of up to six Joey receivers simultaneously.
Just a month after unveiling its Hopper 3 DVR, Dish Network today launched the new set-top box across the country. However, the company did not explain what makes for a “qualified” customer, told the TV Predictions.
Universal search with Netflix Hopper 3 will soon feature the Netflix app and integrate Netflix titles into its universal search results.
The Hopper 3 is, according to Dish Network, the most advanced DVR now available. The DVR decodes and outputs 4K video to applicable televisions.
