The table read proved so popular with the Montreal audience that it had to change venue to accommodate the crown, with spectators queuing for up to five hours to see some of the biggest talents in Hollywood take on the roles.
Well done Olivia Munn! Patton Oswalt said who was playing John Goodman’s character Walter Sobchak during the performance. All the cast was confused when Munn read Jennifer Lawrence’s opening line.
At the event, which was part of the Just For Laughs festival, Fassbender dressed for the occasion – wearing The Dude’s signature bathrobe. Save for a tiny hiccup when Olivia Munn started reading Maude’s lines – following her incorrectly highlighted script page. The character of The Dude was originally portrayed by Jeff Bridges in the 1998 movie.
‘I think Fassbender went a little too Method on this one, ‘ Oswalt joked. “I hope TMZ isn’t here”, he joked. Miller, Martin Starr and Mike Judge as, respectively, Brandt (played in the film by the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman), extreme bowler Jesus (John Turturro) and The Stranger (Sam Elliot), while Parenthood’s Mae Whitman took on Steve Buscemi’s role as Theodore Donald “Donny” Kerabatsos and Dennis Quaid played the titular Big Lebowski.
