Broncos rookie Ryan Murphy questioned in prostitution sting
Murphy is from the Oakland area.
Denver Broncos safety Ryan Murphy was questioned by police in an alleged prostitution sting on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
Reports said the sting was part of Santa Clara County’s human trafficking task force and it took place in a part of north San Jose known for prostitution. However, his brother and the suspected prostitute were cited.
San Jose television station KPIX 5 reported that Murphy was questioned by police and released, but that his brother and a suspected prostitute received citations in the operation that occurred in a motel parking lot on Tuesday.
The vehicle the woman went to was one Murphy and his brother were in. He added that the task force has connected more than 20 suspected female prostitutes with support resources through the county.
Incidentally, the Broncos’ Super Bowl opponent, the Carolina Panthers, were given a cautionary talk last week by Panthers radio analyst Eugene Robinson, the former Atlanta Falcons safety who got arrested for soliciting sex from an undercover officer on the eve of Super Bowl XXXIII. While the Broncos sent Murphy home, Kubiak said Murphy’s status as a practice squad player has not changed. He has been with Denver’s practice squad but has not registered any official stats in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks drafted Murphy this year but released him.
