A Flock of Sheep Sings to Queen in Honda’s Super Bowl Spot
Queen’s 1976 classic, “Somebody To Love“, provides the soundtrack to a Super Bowl 50 commercial for the 2017 Honda Ridegline truck and video of the ad has been posted online ahead of the big game. I covered the Van Halen sound bite centered 2017 Acura NSX ad in this article. A talking dog is also featured in the spot.
Follow the AJC Music Scene on Facebook and Twitter. So overall the 2017 Honda Ridgeline isn’t crushing the competition but has its merits. It’s “exciters” that makes the whole bed a speaker. Peyton says Honda will have an advantage – sheep aren’t as overexposed in Super Bowl ads as puppies, horses or babies.
In a 60-second ad for the 2017 Ridgeline pickup, a rancher uses his shiny new truck to transport his flock of sheep out into the fields. Naturally, the commercial would be lame if they only played music with no action, so the script involved a herd of sheep that can sing like you would not believe. And moving on to towing payload, the Chevrolet Colorado once again beats out the Honda Ridgeline and the remainder mid-size trucks thanks to its 7,000lbs.
The original Ridgeline was named 2006 Motor Trend Truck of the Year and 2006 North American Truck of the Year and topped J.D. Power and Associates’ Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) study in the midsize pickup segment for three consecutive years. Like the truck, the ad is unique and memorable, Honda Style!
