Tom Brady And Derek Jeter Will Attend Michigan’s National Signing Day Event
On top of the noteworthy names already scheduled to attend the Wednesday event, Sunday brought news that it will feature a pair of sports superstars: Tom Brady and Derek Jeter.
According to the MI football website, Michigan’s J. Ira and Nicki Harris family, coach Jim Harbaugh and a celebrity cast will introduce the student-athletes who sign National Letters of Intent to attend the school and play football for the Wolverines starting in the fall.
Brady, a MI graduate in 2000, ranks fourth all-time in the program’s history in passing yards (5,351) and fifth in passing touchdowns (35).
Jeter received a jersey from Harbaugh before the Wolverines’ Sept. 26 game against Oregon State.
It will be invite-only, held at Hill Auditorium on the Ann Arbor campus, and streamed live by The Players’ Tribune – which, in a stroke of brand synergy, is owned by Jeter. Others expected to be in attendance are Jim Leyland (former MLB manager); Migos (musicians); Mayer Hawthorne (musician); Ric Flair (pro wrestling Hall of Famer); Derek Holland (MLB pitcher); Mike Shanahan (former NFL head coach); Denard Robinson (former U-M football player); Lou Holtz (football analyst); Brad Keslowski (NASCAR driver); Todd McShay (NFL Draft analyst) and more.
It’s also serving as a fundraiser for the Chad Tough Foundation. Chad passed away in November at the age of five.
No doubt, non-Michigan fans are rolling their eyes at what they think is Jim Harbaugh’s latest gimmick (like this, for example) to make headlines in the never-ending recruiting battle.
