Voting underway in Hyderabad for GHMC polls
The third ordinary polls to 150 wards of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and first after the formation of Telangana State went off peacefully barring a few sporadic incidents during polling on Tueday and polled 48-49 percent.
The polling began this morning from 7 am in total 7,802 polling booths located in 3,117 builings in GHMC limits.
Over 74.25 lakh voters including 34.53 laksh women are to exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 1,333 candidates who are in the fray for 150 seats. More than 25000 police personal have been deployed to ensure peaceful elections.

Around 43 per cent polling was reported in the last GHMC elections in 2009.
This time Congress, the main opposition party, is contesting the elections on its own.
