The Zika virus has made its way to Georgia and now the Coastal Health District is issuing a warning to keep everyone safe. The concern is that it is spreading so fast across the world that 3 to 4 million people could be infected across the world by next year.

Although research is still underway, significant evidence in Brazil shows a link between Zika infections and rising cases of microcephaly, a neurological disorder in which infants are born with smaller craniums and brains.
The Zika virus causes a mosquito-borne illness that includes a rash, fever and joint pain, and the flu-like symptoms generally last about a week, but the virus isn’t life-threatening, according to the CDC.
Ms Mani said the ministry was aware of peer reviewed articles from Brazil regarding Zika-associated/induced microcephaly.
