Stephen Curry nets 35 points as Warriors blast Cavs
Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James, left, drives past Golden State Warriorsí Stephen Curry in the second half of an NBA basketball game, Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, in Cleveland.
The win was an important victory against a top Western Conference team after the Cavs were blown out Monday by the Golden State Warriors and remain 0-3 against the two top teams from the West. The Clippers aren’t quite in that elite category, but they’re not far behind.
That aroma had long dissipated, but the Warriors looked thirsty for more bubbly.
Starting first with the Finals rematch that turned into the destruction of the Cleveland Cavaliers last night. “I think LeBron was into him, but I don’t think it was to the point where I think he couldn’t touch the ball”. Rajon Rondo made a clutch basket in the fourth quarter and had his fifth triple-double of the season with 11 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. They need to play with more swagger and a competitive edge.
But that did not happen and the Cavaliers showed that they are not yet at the same level as the Warriors.
Golden State’s Draymond Green flirted with what would have been his ninth triple-double before finishing with 16 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds in three quarters, while Klay Thompson had 15 points.
Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love have found their groove back into the team and the Cavaliers are steadily holding the throne as the best team in the Eastern Conference.
Blatt took responsibility for his team not being prepared. “We actually had a really, really sharp practice getting back to the basics”.
Unsurprisingly, the champions move more merch than any other team. “The first three quarters, that’s who we know we can be”, Walton said. “They were absolutely phenomenal tonight”.
The Cavs won for the 13th time in the past 14 meetings against the Clippers and improved to 18-3 against them all time at Quicken Loans Arena.
LeBron James bristled at the suggestion that the strategy somehow cheapened the result.
A couple of days before their much-anticipated clash with the Warriors, the Cavs lost a close game against the San Antonio Spurs and won another tight match against the Dallas Mavericks prior to that.
“I actually wish that teams would forget about us and the league would forget about us and, for the first time in my career, I could fly under the radar”, James said, just after the Cavs had beaten Brooklyn.
The Cavs barely avoided matching their worst home loss in franchise history – a 114-75 loss to the Chicago Bulls on January 20, 2012.
