EE 4G Base Rises To 10.9m As Coverage Reaches 90 Percent
Although this represents a slight dip in its growth rate, EE still believes it is on course to reach its year-end target of 14 million 4G users.
EE will be hoping to encourage more customers to move to 4G, as 90 percent of the population is able to access its 4G network, an increase of 23 percent on the same time previous year. The MVNO base reached 3.7 million, up 1.3 percent year-on-year. The operator stopped selling 3G contracts in March when it axed the Orange and T-Mobile brands. The pre-paid customer base fell by 184,000 year-on-year.
EE CEO Olaf Swantee said: “Our established leadership in 4G and key differentiators such as WiFi Calling are working well for the business”.
He said EE is the “clear network market leader” and would focus on improving customer satisfaction and selling its range of consumer and business 4G connected products.
Second quarter mobile ARPU was stable year-on-year including regulatory impact (up 2.2 per cent excluding this).
It’s B2B base is now up 7 per cent yoy with more than 8,300 corporates using EE.
In a statement, the company also said its enterprise services businesses are experience positive levels of growth.
Telecoms firm EE has revealed its second quarter financial results, which indicate that growth of its home broadband business is slowing, with just 35,000 new users compared to 50,000 in Q1.
EE also claimed net 4G subscriber additions of more than 1.5m in Q, with total 4G customers now reaching 10.9m – up from 4.2m in 2014.
“Furthermore, it has seen impressive uptake of the EE Power Bar – being used by >1.1 million customers – which has played an important role in maintaining low post-paid churn at 1.1 per cent in 2Q15”.
As it published its results, EE said its network leadership was also shown by the fact it has scooped several industry awards, and has also been named number one network for overall call, text and mobile data performance by RootMetrics in each 16 cities tested in 2015.
