Soundcloud Introduces Radio Stations
Stations can be created from a number of sources. Soundcloud may not have the biggest database of top 40 songs from the most popular artists, but the platform is home to popular remixes and mix tapes from established artists that can’t be found on competing platforms.
“Sit back, tune in and discover”. With this feature, users are able to create a streaming radio station from any track that’s available on Soundcloud.
SoundCloud, the free music service particularly favored by independent and grassroots musicians, has finally added ‘stations, ‘ a sort of never-ending playlist of related tracks and songs.
Soundcloud has rolled out a major update for iOS and Android, reports The Verge. Pull up the menu from any one of those four and select the “Start Station” option.
The idea, the company explains in its announcement, is to offer a “new way to discover the tracks you’ve never heard anywhere else” by making it easier to find other music that’s related to your Likes on its service.
Perhaps SoundCloud’s greatest strengths, and one of the many reasons it has become so prominent among the online music community, is its free-wheeling ability to discover new, unsigned, and untapped talent.
SoundCloud includes more than 100 million tracks to pull from for these stations.
Stations are included in the latest version of the Soundcloud mobile app that’s available for download right away from the App Store and the Google Play Store.
