Sex, not mosquito, behind first Zika virus case in US
But officials said it was unlikely the virus could cause widespread problems in the U.S.
American health officials in Texas say they’ve confirmed what appears to be the first case of Zika virus transmitted through sexual intercourse in the country.
It’s the first case of the virus being transmitted in the USA during the current outbreak of Zika, which has been linked to birth defects in the Americas.
Officials did not release the name, age or sex of the patient.
