Chopper Crashes in Lagos, House Committee on Aviation Postpones Sitting
Months after a Bristow Helicopter crash landed into the lagoon at the Oworonshoki area of Lagos, another helicopter from the same stable today crash landed again in Lagos.
The National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) gave the coordinates of the craft location as 05.44.3N and 04 16.9E.
Eleven persons were said to be on board the helicopter when it crash landed.
The helicopter was said to travelling from Port Harcourt to Lagos when it disappeared from radar.
Last August, another helicopter owned by the company similarly crashed into the Lagos lagoon, killing six out of 12 passengers.
Heads of the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and that of Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) were already seated when the chairman made the announcement.
However, Michael Akindele, LASEMA’s general manager, said no life was lost in the incident.
Onyejeocha therefore adjourned the 2016 budget defence, to enable relevant aviation agencies atted to search and rescue opeations.
