Sanders Counters Clinton’s Debate Challenge With His Own
The money, Sanders has suggested, undercuts Clinton’s ability to push for the kind of Wall Street reforms needed to avoid a repeat of activities that contributed to the 2008 financial crisis – a notion she vigorously disputes.
Part of the discussion surrounding the February 4 debate in New Hampshire, meanwhile, has to do with the fact that the event, to be hosted by the Union Leader newspaper in collaboration with MSNBC, has not been sanctioned by the Democratic National Committee (DNC), CBS News explained. “Sanders has called for more debates”, the lawmaker’s campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, said in a statement.
Clinton spokeswoman Christina Reynolds said it was “ironic that Senator Sanders is preaching consistency on the very day he flip-flopped on his position on a bill to end immunity for gun makers and dealers or that he’s touting his positive campaign while simultaneously ramping up the attacks”. Sarandon – who has always been open about her liberal political stance – has been campaigning for Sanders in the Democratic primaries. “If the Clinton campaign will commit to this schedule, we would ask the DNC to arrange a debate in New Hampshire on February 4”.
“We have another (debate) shortly after New Hampshire on the calendar, and I’ve said we should start looking for dates to get one scheduled”.
Clinton aides accused him of going negative in an earlier spot that didn’t mention her by name either but was critical of Democrats who “take millions from big banks and then tell them what to do”. Why is that? The answer is obvious.
The race between Clinton and Sanders, 74, has tightened in recent weeks, and polls show the two in a statistical dead heat for the Iowa caucus on February 1.
The latest talk over the debate schedule comes days before the Iowa caucuses, which are Monday.
Both Clinton and Sanders have high favorability ratings, and voting for either candidate will leave most voters feeling either “enthusiastic” or “satisfied”.
