Tanzanian Woman Stripped and Paraded Naked

A young Tanzanian woman was today stripped, beaten up and paraded naked for apparently no fault of hers.
“I have asked the Chief Minister to ensure safety and security of all foreign students and stringent punishment for the guilty”, she said in another tweet. The police registered a case against the culprits and the investigation is on. “The Tanzanian Embassy on Monday sought a detailed report on the incident from student leaders to pursue the issue diplomatically”, Bosco Kaweesi, Legal Adviser, All African Students in Bengaluru had told Deccan Chronicle.
The sources said the Joint Secretary in MEA’s East and Southern Africa Division has spoken to the High Commissioner of Tanzania and expressed regret over the the unfortunate incident.
African students in Bengaluru said they have been cowering in their flats ever since the incident. An irate mob had gathered and were setting fire to the vehicle because they believed it was driven by drunken African youth. She appeared before the Soladevanahalli police and gave a new statement saying she was stripped by a mob.
The incident took place on Hesaraghatta Road in Bengaluru on Saturday night after a Sudanese national ran his auto over a 35-year-old woman resulting in on the spot death of the woman.
“It was mistaken identity”, he said. The driver of the auto, Mohammed Ismail, fled the scene. “They thrashed us again till we took shelter near some shops”, she said. “We are now following all procedures, we are getting her medically examined”, TR Suresh, deputy commissioner of police for north Bangalore, told BBC Hindi. We have added suitable sections of the Indian Penal Code to the FIR that was registered earlier based on the complaint that her vehicle was set afire.
Megharikh said the police were trying to identify the people involved and they would be arrested.
