National Weather Service: EF2 tornado hit west Alabama
Storm survey teams will be heading to west Alabama later this morning to look at damage from Tuesday’s severe storms, according to the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
The National Weather Service reported severe structural damage to homes, trees, churches and the Federal Correctional Institution, a nearby prison.
WJTV 12 is tracking a storm system that will bring the chance of severe weather this afternoon into this evening.
After 1 a.m., the National Weather Service said the storms should dissipate, leaving weather conditions on Wednesday mostly sunny with a high of 58 degrees.
She says it’s unclear whether the damage was caused by tornado or straight-line winds.
The State Patrol reported 287 crashes on icy, low-visibility roads across Minnesota by 4:30 p.m. (5:30 p.m. ET).
Strong winds blew Pastor Ray Jones’ home off its foundation on Martin Luther King Road in the Sapps-Beaverton area near Aliceville. Officials say there were only minor injuries.

According to CNN, for a quarter of a mile near Suqualena, trees are uprooted, homes and buildings are torn apart and power lines are strewn across the street.
There is a confirmed tornado south of DeKalb MS that will move northeast toward northern Sumter and southern Pickens Counties, in the general direction of Carrollton. “But the greatest risk comes Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with a line of storms forming along the front as it passes through our area”. In western Nebraska, Interstate 76 is also closed between I-80 and I-70 in Colorado.
