California wildfire threatens homes, prompts evacuations
Crews have partially surrounded a fire that shut down a highway linking Sacramento and Reno, Nevada, and led to a handful of evacuations.
The U.S. Forest Service says some mandatory evacuations have been called for in the rural area, but it isn’t immediately clear how many homes or people are affected.
More than 520 firefighters are battling the flames in rugged, steep, brush-covered terrain that has been hard to access.
In Napa, the fire was only 15 percent contained and was threatening some 200 structures Thursday. Fire crews continue to make progress and construct line around the fire.
The Wragg Fire 2015 for Friday July 24, 2015 was issued moments ago. It was 5 percent contained.
A wind-whipped wildfire near Lake Berryessa has consumed more than 700 acres as it moves from Napa County to Yolo County, prompting evacuations.
By Sunday morning, it burned 1,500 acres and was five percent contained.
“The good news of the week is that there have been no injuries to citizens and the structure loss was very minimal, all of the residences are still standing”, Winters Fire Chief Aaron McAlister said.
The fire erupted Wednesday afternoon and was initially reported as being caused by a vehicle accident, but authorities said Thursday that the cause was still under investigation.

Meanwhile, floor was received by firefighters Sunday against a wildfire near wine region, and fireplace officials concluded street closures and all evacuation requests.
Parts of Highway 128 near the southern rim of Lake Berryessa remained closed, officials said.
The fire had burned in a southern direction overnight on Thursday, but crews had spent Wednesday night and continued on Thursday to keep the fire on the eastern and northern slopes of the ridge, above the houses in Mix Canyon and Gates Canyon.
