‘Outlander’: Sophie Skelton Cast As Brianna
Outlander season 2 will launch exclusively in the United Kingdom on Amazon Prime Video this April 2016.
The actress got a warm welcome on Twitter, with the fans and cast members Heughan and Balfe welcoming her to the “family”.
“Newcomer Sophie Skelton has been cast to play Brianna in the series adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling books, EW has learned”. Starz describes Brianna as “a striking, redheaded young lady” who’s “strong-minded and intelligent beyond her years”.
British actress Sophie Skelton will play the role of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser’s (Caitriona Balfe) daughter when the show returns this spring. He is playing the adult version of Reverend Wakefield’s son viewers met in season one, and has important connections to Brianna.
Season Two finds Claire and Jamie arriving in France with a plan to infiltrate the Jacobite rebellion and stop the Battle of Culloden. Altering the course of history presents challenges that begin to weigh on the very fabric of their relationship. However, when exactly she’ll show up in season two hasn’t been confirmed as it’s likely the new season will not follow the same timeline as Gabaldon’s Dragonfly in Amber. Armed with knowledge of what lies ahead, Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising, and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it. She has since appeared on stage in “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Les Miserables“, “West Side Story” and “Mary Poppins“, and on TV in “Doctors”, “DCI Banks”, “Waterloo Road” and “Foyle’s War”.
Season 2 of Outlander will feature even more sex and time-travel drama, as well the return of season 1 fan-favorite (and not-so-fan-favorite) characters. She’s also due to play the title role of Ren, which is an upcoming fantasy action-adventure series.
