Trump accuses Cruz of fraud in Iowa
In the aftermath of Monday’s Iowa caucus results, political pundits have had plenty to ponder.
Wisniewski said that some of them who have been on the fence might get off on Sanders’ side now.
The New York business man accused the Ted Cruz campaign of fraudulent activities during the Iowa caucuses, after controversial voter mailers and reports that Cruz staffers lied to caucus goers by indicating Dr. Ben Carson was dropping out in order to gain votes for Cruz.
The Iowa Democratic Party said Tuesday that it would not do any recounts of the close results, and a spokesman for the Sanders campaign said it does not intend to challenge the results of the caucuses. “I know exactly what NY values are and I can’t stand them, ‘” Cruz said. But before eking out the narrowest of victories against Sanders, Clinton won a truly bizarre-sounding six coin tosses used to decide which candidate would get the votes of several Iowa precincts that were too tied up to call. “The more commentary there is out there about Rubio being the eventual consensus establishment choice, the more likely donors are going to move to him from [Jeb] Bush, from [John] Kasich and from the others”, Sabato said.
Trump finished the night with 24% of the Iowa vote, for a strong second-place showing behind Texas Sen. And he lost out to Cruz when Iowa GOPers were asked who best shared their values.
“We have one shot in 2016 to beat Hillary Clinton and that shot is Marco Rubio, and with him as our candidate, we win”, Scott said. Only 1 percent of the delegates needed to win the primary nomination were decided yesterday.
“It’s been an incredible honour to run a principled campaign for the White House”, Senator Paul said in a statement.
Trump isn’t in New Hampshire at all Wednesday.
Sanders is favored by polls to win the first primary on February 9 in New Hampshire, which borders Vermont.
Former Gov. Mike Huckabee, who won the Iowa caucuses in 2008, but drew only 2 percent this time around, suspended his campaign after the tallying, but no other GOP candidate followed suit Monday. Mr. Trump took a brief hiatus from Twitter, and when he returned came out with an uncharacteristically tactful tweet following the results: “My experience in Iowa was a great one”.
New Hampshire’s primary is in eight days, and the general election is in nine months, so we are a long way from the finish line.
