Facebook celebrating its users’ friendships for its birthday
The social network was started with an aim to reconnect with your friends and post pictures and videos.
Facebook has already created the video for you, but you can edit it or share it on your timeline as is.
Facebook said that by midday Thursday, most users worldwide will see a “personalized video experience” atop their News Feeds, in which photos depicting “special moments” with their friends will be stitched together into short films.
“When people connect, powerful things can happen and lives can be changed”, the company wrote in a blog post.
Or this one: “We’re celebrating friendship on Facebook’s 12 birthday”.
But the social media company wants the milestone to be less about the tech firm and more about the friendships among its 1.59 billion users. And last but not least, Facebook is also introducing a couple of new friendship-themed sticker packs called “Best Friends” and “Friendship” today.
Facebook said GirlCrew has now expanded to more than 22,000 users in 40 cities worldwide. “You find ways to keep it focused on the needs of the community, and it’s not about you”, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement. “We see this on Facebook every day, whether it’s an exchange with an old friend that brings a smile to your face or a new connection that changes your life path, or even the world”. Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg in February 2004, initially as an exclusive network for Harvard students.
