Rams interested in signing Peyton
The Broncos quarterback is still under contract for another year in Denver next season, and it’s unclear if Manning would have any interest in joining the Rams in Los Angeles.
If he wants to come back, it’s uncertain how many teams would want the 40-year old quarterback.
But head coach Gary Kubiak said Thursday that he doesn’t see Manning as physically limited as many outsiders do. The Rams are wise to at the very least do their due diligence on every quarterback option out there.
“Should the Rams pursue Peyton Manning if he decides to play football in 2016?” The past week and a half has featured reports that Manning has hinted to family that he is going to retire after this season.
If the league’s all-time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns becomes available, they may give him a legitimate look – if not exclusively because of the on-the-field benefit, perhaps also to help sell the team to fans in their new hometown of Los Angeles by bringing in one of the best players in league history for the Rams’ first season back in L.A. The Steelers went on to win Super Bowl XL and Bettis retired afterwards.
If the Rams can’t pry Manning away from the Broncos or retirement, the team will start Case Keenum at quarterback, with Nick Foles and Sean Mannion competing for the role during preseason.
Manning is heading into his fourth title game, and is looking for his second Super Bowl ring in 18 seasons. Should Peyton move on from the Broncos, he could be a great option for the Rams and would be a terrific mentor to their future quarterback.
Would it make sense for Peyton Manning to check out Los Angeles as a potential final destination?
