Huge Mazda recall in South Africa
While there hasn’t been any reports of incidents, Mazda says that the fuel filler pipe has the potential to rupture in the event of a rear collision which could cause a fuel leak and lead to a fire.
Customers will be notified once replacement parts are secured, Mazda spokeswoman Tamara Mlynarczyk said.
The second recall issued by Mazda involves all CX-5 vehicles from Model Year 2013 to 2016.
No accidents or injuries occurring in the subject vehicles as a result of this condition have been reported so far.
The B-Series campaign lists 19,000 vehicles sold in the US, Puerto Rico and Saipan.
They are taking a proactive approach in ensuring the safety of their customers by issuing this recall for about 264,463 vehicles in the U.S.
While the fix is not yet under way, the automaker will offer a free loaner or rental auto to owners who don’t feel comfortable driving their CX-5s. The trucks were previously recalled for inflators on the front passenger side, Mazda said.
Mazda has announced a global recall of its cars affected by defects in airbags built by Takata. These include Mazda6 and Mazda RX-8 vehicles equipped with the “PSDI-4” driver-side air bag inflator, the “SDI-160” driver side air bag inflator, or the “SPI” passenger-side air bag inflator.
