Nkandla: EFF rejects Zuma offer
“We declare war against the Guptas and their businesses … and when we declare war we fight to the bitter end”, said Malema.
This came after Zuma offered a solution to the dispute over the scandal in which Zuma is accused of allowing the abuse of public funds worth 245 million rand (about 15 million USA dollars at current rate) in the security upgrades of his private home in Nkandal, KwaZulu-Natal Province.
There was a “need for finality”, said Zuma’s lawyers in the letter.
“We are not tampering with media freedom – those institutions are products of corruption”.
Malema referred to those who took part in anti-Zuma protests on 16 December. He repeatedly said he would not “pay back the money”, as has been chanted by the EFF in parliament repeatedly – disruptions that ended with their forcible removals from the house.
The president’s legal advisor Michael Hulley said in a YouTube video on Wednesday, that the proposed settlement in the Nkandla matter is nothing new. Under pressure Zuma removed Van Rooyen after just four days on the job and recalled former finance minister, Pravin Gordhan.
“I was informed that the evidence in this regard contains incontrovertible evidence that contradicts the repeated denials issued by the President in this regard”, a court document, published by News24, quoted Netwerk24 editor Adrian Basson as saying.
The suggestion was blasted by various opposition parties with both the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) confirming it would continue with charges due in the Constitutional Court next Tuesday, that Zuma failed to correctly apply the recommendations contained in Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s Secure in Comfort report.

“We can’t have a situation where Zuma’s drum majorettes in parliament insult the Public Protector”.
In his proposal, Zuma said he would pay back a certain amount of money. Zuma was prepared to pay for the visitors’ centre, the amphitheatre, the cattle kraal, chicken run and the swimming pool.
