George Clooney’s 25 minute proposal

In another segment, Clooney discusses proposing to his wife, worldwide human rights attorney Amal Clooney, after contending for much of his life that he’d never get married. “And it was one of those frightful moments”. I plotted the whole thing out.

George Clooney and Rihanna are two of Hollywood’s most scrutinized celebrities – but even they managed to shock the audience with some of their previously well-kept secrets in a spirited game of “Never Have I Ever”.

Clooney had his aunt Rosemary Clooney’s song “Why Shouldn’t I” playing in the background during the proposal, during which he cooked dinner for her and made a decision to surprise her with the ring at home.

“We have to take a break, but when we come back with Rihanna we’ll find out what the text was and who it was sent to”, DeGeneres mused.

“I haven’t seen you in a while”, Rihanna drawled to her host, as she joined George on the couch. “I don’t know. I’m doing all the moves you can do with my face”.

And I got down on my knee and said “I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life without you”.

Amal, 38, didn’t catch on, though – until she saw the ring.

“And we now know because there is a playlist, so we know how long it actually took, and it’s like 25 minutes, 25 minutes!” Finally I literally said, “Look, I hope the answer’s yes, but I need an answer ’cause I’m 52 and I could throw out my hip pretty soon”. “Amal noted in her first USA interview this month, that she feels “a certain responsibility” balancing her life as a practicing lawyer with her new-found fame, adding, ‘I think I’m exercising it in an appropriate manner by continuing to do this kind of work'”.
