Joe Alaskey, voice of Bugs Bunny, dies at 63
The actor, who was born in NY on April 17, 1952, started work as a stand-up impressionist and also featured on a Boston morning radio show, Effective Radio with Bill, working with June Foray.
Joe Alaskey – who voiced Yosemite Sam in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” and Bugs Bunny among a host of other Looney Toons characters – has died of cancer aged 63.
Joe took over Blanc’s character voices from 1990 until 1995.
The longtime voice actor was also the genius behind the voices of Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat, Marvin the Martian, and Foghorn Leghorn.
Alaskey also voiced the titular character in Duck Dodgers, for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award.
You may not recognize Joe’s face, but you’ll definitely recognize his voice. He will be remembered as the voice of Thomas Timberwolf from the internet series “Timberwolf” as well as the occasional guest voice-over announcer for the Disney Channel’s “Toon Disney”.
Joe voiced Grandpa Lou Pickles in more recent incarnations of the “Rugrats” franchise, as well as voicing Droopy the Dog in “Tom And Jerry” and Richard Nixon in the hit film, “Forrest Gump” – a role he landed thanks to his great ability to mimic voices.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Joe’s family and friends during this hard time. Please share your condolences below and come back to CDL for the latest celebrity news.
