Lohia Auto unveils electric vehicles at Auto Expo 2016
From eco friendly hybrid cars to ones that can run a 100 kilometres in a litre of petrol, the Auto Expo has plenty of new models and technologies on display. In the last edition, approximately, 5.6 lakh people visited the show, however, and this year, the organizers expect to accumulate over 7 lakh automobile enthusiasts.
The show, jointly organised by SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), ACMA (Automotive Components Manufacturers Association) and the Confederation of Indian Industry, will be opened for public from February 5-9. Likely to be launched by the end of this year, the compact SUV will rival against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. Hyundai’s Tucson unveiled on first day is the global product. The engine comes with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox.
Suzuki and Yamaha also unveiled new scooters at the exposition.
While the City sedan is striking in typical Honda fashion, the Japanese auto giant showcased a mildly reworked variant highlighting the car’s distinctive styling.
India’s biggest vehicle maker Tata Motors Ltd showed off a slew of new models as it seeks to revive its flagging market share, including two forthcoming SUVs and the Zica hatchback, which it plans to rename following the spread of the Zika virus. Powered by a 286cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, the new CBR300 produces 30.4bhp and 27Nm torque.
The interiors are pretty similar to the recently launched Jazz and that has been a problem with Honda cars in India, they all look and feel the same, even more from the inside. The SUV is stated to be between the price range of 7-10 lakhs ex-showroom price. Apart from Jaguar XE, JLR is also showcasing six new products in India including the Discovery Sport, Range Rover SV Autobiography, Jaguar F Type Coupe, Jaguar F Pace and Jaguar XF.
Honda cars India has unveiled its seven-seater crossover utility vehicle “BR-V” which has been exclusively developed for the Asian markets including India.
While the difference in taxes based on the size of the vehicle has led to the emergence of a unique category of sub-four metre compact sedans over the past few years, automakers are now increasingly looking at compact SUVs.
