Police identify man whose severed legs were found in Connecticut; testing on
DNA testing has found a match between the severed human legs found in New Haven earlier this month and a homeless man.
On June 15th, two severed legs were found tucked under some bushes on the corner of State and Chapel Streets, near the train station.
The victim has been identified as Ray Roberson, 54, police spokesman Officer David Hartman said in a press release Monday morning.
Police said he was homeless and not reported missing. The two arms, which did not have hands attached, were found in a plastic bag in the same area later the same day.
No additional body parts have been found or reported.
New Haven police first confirmed to News 8’s Jason Newton that the man whose legs were found is 54-year-old Anthony Ray Roberson.
Hartman said investigators are still attempting to identify a pair of arms found blocks from the legs.
Police are investigating the case as a homicide, but there is no indication yet as to where the homicide or dismemberments occurred.
The new information obtained by police has warranted an expanded search.
Police said the parts appeared to have been there for at least a week.
