Will Super Bowl 50 be Peyton Manning’s last National Football League game?
“If this was Peyton’s last game, I know he’d want to play it like his last”, said outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware.
During Super Bowl Media Night in San Jose, Calif., on Monday, according to NFL.com, Manning said, “I welcome this NFL investigation, because I know the rules of the NFL and I respect the rules, they’re important to me”. It won’t be easy, but if there was ever a ideal time for Manning to ride off into the sunset, then it is now. “Because I didn’t want it to be different than what I was seeing and what I was feeling”. “There’s a laundry list and I’m going to dive into those in the off-season and see what went well and what didn’t go well and learn from those”.
After all, Bailey’s own career ended in a similar way two years ago.
FILE – In this Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, Denver Broncos’ executive vice president of football operations John Elway, right, talks with quarterback Peyton Manning during the fourth quarter of an NFL football game against the Oakland Raiders in Denver.
The Broncos understand, but that doesn’t mean they are buying into the heavy underdog status bestowed upon them by the Las Vegas oddsmakers and the general public picking against them. “We couldn’t beat Ben Roethlisberger, but yet we’re in the Super Bowl”, safety T.J. Ward told reporters in Santa Clara with a smile on his face.
He officially retired after 15 seasons (10 in Denver) and 12 Pro Bowls with a formal ceremony at Broncos headquarters in Englewood, Colo., that fall. It doesn’t help that the last time the Broncos qualified for the Super Bowl things went bad from the first snap on. But even with hindsight, he’s glad he didn’t. I’ll just say this. “The more comfortable you get seeing things, the more you can just react”. “High intensity. Try your best to make every play that comes your way”, Davis said. But no, I don’t regret going to the Saints training camp.
He understands that might not be the same for Manning, and that his former teammate’s decision might be far different. “It’s a unique situation”, Bailey said. It’s been a turbulent year, but as we get closer to the finish line it’s good to remember what led up to this moment. We’re working with law enforcement, we’re working with USADA, we’re working with Major League Baseball, which is also involved, to make sure that we investigate that seriously, fully, thoughtfully and just like any other investigation, we allow the facts to come about.
