Police still checking school grounds following bomb threat
“WPD received robo-call bomb threat at noon for Vet’s High School”.
Several schools, including Adelaide High School, were evacuated following threats yesterday.
Police completed a search of the school at 2.20pm and has cleared the high school to reopen.
“All of these schools immediately contacted police and have enacted emergency procedures based on police advice”, the spokesperson said.
City police said they received an automated messaged at 11:59 a.m. that directed “multiple and immediate threats” towards the school, including a planted explosive inside the building.
“Nothing has gone bang yet, so it is probably just a nuisance call out, but we’re continuing our sweep, which has so far taken about an hour and a half, and we would be expecting to be finished in the next half hour”.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Education said the department is working with police to ensure all students and staff are safe. Im not concerned. If it was the only one that had happened id be anxious but theyre doing up to 20 schools a day.
A hoax bomb threat has caused a high school in Otago to go into lockdown.
Police confirmed on Thursday they were coordinating a response at the affected schools with the state education department.
The threat was made to the school about 12.30pm. Once evacuated, all students at MHS were placed on busses and sent home for the day.
