Los Angeles Rams Discuss Signing Peyton Manning
But if Manning soon to be the oldest quarterback to play in a Super Bowl – wants to suit up again next season, the Rams are apparently willing to be an option.
With what Los Angeles has for them right now, the potential starter could be either Case Keenum or Nick Foles.
While Manning’s future is still cloudy, the Rams have expressed interest in Manning through conversations within the organization, per ESPN.
After those 2014 playoff games when he was heard shouting “Omaha” dozens of times, Manning explained himself.
However, outside of young star running back Todd Gurley, the Rams don’t have the caliber of receivers and offensive line to really surround Manning offensively in order to become a true contender on a short-term stint.
At 39 years old, Manning has to decide if he can continue on. “Manning also isn’t mobile, something Fisher said he wanted when he switched from Foles to Keenum”. But they are monitoring the Manning situation, per a source, which is a sign that the Broncos quarterback could have options next season. The 14-time Pro Bowl quarterback played 10 regular-season games, where he completed 59.8 percent of his passes, which is his lowest since his rookie season with the Indianapolis Colts in 1998. According to a previous report, Manning has informed people close to him that he will retire after the 2015 National Football League season.
All of this is likely for naught, as Manning will more than likely retire at Super Bowl 50’s end.
Manning’s words indicate he might have just one game left. “I think one thing I’ve done well all season and the team has done well all season is stay in the moment and focus on the task at hand”.
