Celtics Acquire Zoran Dragic from HEAT | Basketball Insiders | NBA Rumors And
The Miami Heat have agreed to seng guard Zoran Dragic and a 2nd round pick to Boston for a protected 2nd rounder.
The team likely is not finished cutting salary, with multiple outlets reporting they’re trying hard to trade Mario Chalmers and his $4.3 million salary.
The Napier and Dragic moves not only ease the Miami Heat’s potential luxury-tax burden, but also clear roster space for young prospects, such as Tyler Johnson and 20165 second-round pick Josh Richardson. That $10 million would have cost them about $26 million in taxes.
Zoran is the brother of the Heat’s starting point guard Goran Dragic who is reportedly okay with Zoran being dealt as he was looking for playing time and was unlikely to find any with the Heat in this coming season.
The Boston Celtics announced today that they have acquired forward/center David Lee from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for forward Gerald Wallace and guard/forward Chris Babb.
As the Celtics get ready to introduce their newest members of the team on Monday afternoon, Danny Ainge is hard at work making more trades to acquire additional future assets. While Boston will leap above the cap with these moves, the team will remain comfortably below the luxury-tax line and can afford to simply eat guaranteed contracts if it is unable to further maneuver before the start of the season.
