The Panthers have though now easy contender with the Denver Broncos led by Peyton Manning aka The Sheriff.

With a victory on Sunday the Panthers would find themselves with an 18-1 record, a Super Bowl and in the discussion about the greatest National Football League teams of all-time. That D might not match the stats of the Broncos (14-4), who ranked first overall, but it’s just as impactful. They come into the season’s final game with the league’s most efficient offense and the hottest quarterback in the league in Newton.

Panthers owner Jerry Richardson attended practice for the first time after arriving in California on Wednesday night, watching practice from a golf cart beyond a corner of the field.

Cox agrees with that strategy even though it’s extremely hard to ignore the Super Bowl.

Both defenses will have their moments Sunday.
