‘Spider-Man’ Writers Want to Make New Reboot the Funniest Superhero Film
Now the pair has confirmed that they are on board to script the Spider-Man reboot, and promises that their version of the webslinger will be wittier and funnier than previous cinematic incarnations. Tom Holland has been cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and is expected to make his debut in the role in next year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Martin, a self-proclaimed “Marvel fanboy at heart”, shares his views on the comic book giant’s latest blockbuster, Ant-Man, in a recent blog post.
“We’ve been saying no comment for the last week”.
He told website www.npr.org: “He’s a sharp kid and witty and kind of deals with the fact that he’s an outcast and a geek through humor”.
Daley, who co-wrote terrible Bosses and its sequel, as well as The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 with Goldstein, went on to briefly describe their take on Peter Parker and how that ties into their comedy background. While he joked that when it comes to the superpowers Spidey has, they also have them! As it turns out though, just because they’re not going to be directing Spider-Man, it doesn’t mean that they’re not going to get involved. The real king of Game of Thrones, opened up about the movie, including Paul Rudd’s performance as the titular character, and his lack of love for Marvel movie villains.
“Ant-Man“, at its core, is a heist film. Iron Man fights Ironmonger, a bad Iron Man. The two incredible Spider-Man movies captured some of Spidey’s goofiness (remember when Spider-Man pulled Rhino’s trousers down?), but tried to balance that with a humorless plot.
“Ant-Man” is more or less guilty of using this same trope but the “Song of Ice and Fire” writer was able to enjoy the movie despite having “a lot of trepidation” at first when he heard that Marvel was adapting the miniscule superhero to the big screen.
