Toyota unveils all-new version of hybrid auto Prius
Pioneer of hybrid technology, the Prius is the first vehicle to be built on Toyota new generation architecture and the most favoured of its eco-friendly innovation, it boasted.
Developed with the aid of Saatchi & Saatchi LA, Toyota’s Super Bowl commercial was created to bring into focus the most unexpected features of the 2016 model year Prius. “The highlight of the new model’s design is its rear-quarter glass, which surely looks interesting” reported Carblogindia.
The 2016 Toyota Prius has been priced in the USA from $24,200 and comes with the well known green powertrain – for this generation a 1.8-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine is used together with two electric motor/generators, and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. But even the haters agree that the 2016 Toyota Prius is the best Prius there ever was.
The Crysta will be offered with the choice of a 2.4-litre diesel engine, making 148PS of max power and 360Nm of peak torque, and a 2.0-litre VVT-i engine making 139PS of peak power and 189Nm of peak torque.
The new GD engine is 10% more fuel-efficient compared to the present version available in the market. The new Prius is 61mm longer, 15mm wider and 20mm lower than its predecessor.
2016 Toyota Prius measures 4,540 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width, 1,470 mm in height. The content of this quality of steel in the vehicle has increased from 3 to 19 per cent. Furthermore, the use of advanced Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) helps to reduce overall weight, improve stability, and provides excellent collision safety performance.
The Prius will give an efficiency of 40kmpl, has seven airbags, anti-lock braking system, and Vehicle Stability Control among other features. “Toyota sells around a million hybrids a year”, said Kirloskar.
