Snow expected to last through Friday morning commute
Worcester County will be in a winter storm warning from 1 a.m.to 3 p.m., Friday.
The storm began as heavy rain and switched over to wet snow around 4 a.m. ET in Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania suburbs, NBC 10 Philadelphia reported.
Snow totals for Long Island range from 3 to 6 inches in Nassau County to 4 to 8 inches for Suffolk, said Matthew Tauber, a meteorologist at the service’s Upton office.
Parts of western MA are expected to get between two and four inches, with the lower amounts farther to the north and west, Brown said. Winds will be between 10 and 20 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 30 miles per hour.
About 15 inches of snow fell at Lee Canyon and about 7.5 inches at Kyle Canyon on Mount Charleston.
Friday could see below normal temperatures followed by a steady warming trend into next week, forecasters said on the National Weather Service website. “I’m asking residents to remain vigilant during this snow event and keep an eye out for our neighbors, especially our seniors during this time”.
But the storm that will hit the East Coast Friday indicates winter isn’t over just yet.
An early snowstorm is expected to cause a traffic nightmare during Friday morning’s commute.
The weather service says Monday will bring mostly cloudy skies ahead of our next system.
Brown said the sun will come out later today and melt some of the snow.
Tonight’s low will be about 35 and temperatures won’t rise past the low 40s on Friday.
