Fatal Shooting At Dublin Boxing Event
The two hurt men are thought to have not sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the Irish Independent.
Dozens of people who had gathered for the weigh-in of the WBO European lightweight fight fled the hotel when the men opened fire at 2.30pm.
The event’s headline bout on Friday night is scheduled to pit Jamie Kavanagh (r.) against Joao Bento.
Witnesses say that the three men were wearing “police-style” uniforms when they burst into the event and started firing.
“Two others were removed to The Mater and Beaumont hospitals with possible gunshot wounds”.
A boxing weigh-in was taking place at the hotel at the time of the reported shooting.
Boxing promoters MGM – a professional boxing gym in Puerto Banus, Spain – advertised an official weigh-in at 2pm at the hotel on Friday for the “Clash of the Clans” Show on its Facebook page.
It happened at the Regency Hotel on the Swords Road in the north of the city. “We look forward to seeing you there”.
The Dublin fire brigade said it had dispatched two crews and advanced paramedics to an incident at a hotel in Dublin.
