Rubio under attack as New Hampshire primary race heats up
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, who won the Iowa caucuses on strong evangelical Christian credentials, was expected to have less appeal for voters in New Hampshire. “When they said Ben Carson is out of the race and come vote for him, I thought it was awful”.
However, the race now appears to have narrowed down to Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Carson, Bush and Christie.
After his nearly unheard-of 15-hour hiatus from social media and the airwaves, the Donald Trump that the American electorate has grown to either love or hate returned with a vengeance – accusing Iowa caucus victor Ted Cruz of “illegally” stealing the election and going on national television to bemoan the praise heaped on Marco Rubio for his third-place finish in the Hawkeye state.
Trump also ripped Cruz over a controversial campaign mailer that aimed to get Iowans to the polls by claiming they had committed “violations”.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump waves after speaking at his caucus night rally in Iowa. The GOP front-runners exchanged blows on Twitter Wednesday about the caucus results. He over-performed expectations, and for that, Rubio can call Monday a win.
In attacks posted on his official Twitter account on Wednesday, Trump said “either a new election should take place or Cruz results nullified” in Monday’s Iowa contest.
Meanwhile, Mr Trump has predicted he will win over voters next week in New Hampshire, where he has a substantial lead in polls.
The Sanders campaign is demanding the Democratic Party of Iowa to release the total caucus vote count.
“I think that the good old simple system where you walk in and you cast your vote, like we have, as an example, in New Hampshire, I think it’s better”.
Trump, of course, finished second in Iowa, with Ted Cruz, the man who he had been gleefully picking on for weeks, clinching a three-point victory relatively early in the night.
A loss in New Hampshire could spell the end of road for reality television star, who has offended both minorities and women during his campaign.
“I mean, we are liable to wake up one morning and Donald, if he were president, would have nuked Denmark”.
