Tornadoes Damage College, Church, Prison in MS and Alabama
According to credible sources of NWS, more than six tornadoes have been reported in and around MS and Alabama, but still it is not clear whether they are all from the same extended tracked system. The airmass is the most unstable closer to the Alabama-Mississippi state line.
This system is not an outbreak, but we could see at least a few tornadoes capable of doing damage with west Alabama most prone to the severe threat. Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said the storm damaged homes, toppled trees and knocked out power.
First Baptist Church in Collinsville and student housing at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba were also damaged.

Footage showed belongings strewn over a wide area after a tornado struck in Newton and Lauderdale counties in eastern MS during the afternoon. Minor injuries were reported in that area.
That tornado caused damage to Reed Elementary School in Shuqualak and a nearby convenience store. He says it went through a mostly rural area that has a large subdivision. The storms took down trees and power poles and damaged structures. In Georgia, an apartment building was evacuated due to flooding before dawn Wednesday near the town of Fort Oglethorpe, just south of Chattanooga, Tennessee, the weather service said, citing a report from an emergency manager in Catoosa County, Georgia.
The Nebraska Department of Roads has closed I-80 from Lincoln west to Elm Creek because of the weather Tuesday morning.
Forecasters say northern and western Alabama are at risk Tuesday for severe storms that could bring tornadoes, damaging winds, hail and heavy rain.
There’s a reduced chance of strong storms in southern and southeastern Alabama.
