Sanders, Clinton on what ‘progressive’ means
After yet another Sanders swipe at Clinton as part of a political establishment bankrolled by Wall Street and drug companies, she unloaded.
Bernie Bros, according to their critics, are young white males who’ve taken their love for Bernie way too far. But he did express some concerns about the nuclear weapons being held by his fellow Socialists in the Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea.
Except maybe teaching gender justice or reviewing organic cruelty-free smoothie places on Yelp.
There’s a reason Clinton’s campaign made a decision to embrace four more Democratic debates: She’s a bare-knuckle brawler, and she’s not going to lose the nomination because she wasn’t willing to hit Sanders hard enough.
“Secretary Clinton does represent the establishment”.
And then for Clinton, any discussion of foreign policy gives her critics the chance to point out that she’s more interventionist than the typical Democratic primary voter. That is the only thing he will ever know.
Sanders has made that claim before and PolitiFact found inconsistencies.
She voted for the Iraq War, has backed strikes against the Syrian regime and endorsed the intervention in Libya.
On foreign policy, Sanders and Clinton agree: She has more experience.
And Clinton has already indicated she will appeal to this feeling.
It was Clinton who was the main aggressor, saying Sanders could never achieve his ambitious and costly proposals. “But time and time again, by innuendo, by insinuation, there is this attack that he is putting forth”, Clinton said.
Clinton, in turn, accused her rival of quoting her selectively to diminish her progressive credentials. Sanders said. “Well, some people might think, yeah, that had some influence”.
“On our worst days, I think it is fair to say, we are 100 times better than any Republican candidate”, Sanders said, as Clinton nodded her head in approval. Clinton said health care was a prime example where Sanders would essentially redo what President Barack Obama had already put into action. Accusing her of being bought by special interests was engaging in an “artful smear”, she indignantly insisted.
“I am the strongest candidate to take it to the Republicans and win in November”, Clinton said.
And Clinton declined to comment about the Sanders’ campaign’s proscribed download of Clinton voter files and ads that falsely implied endorsements Sanders didn’t have. Instead of confronting her with the facts, he began mewling something about Republicans and the Koch Brothers. And when Sanders is renown for his large online fanbase, it’s bound for a few nasty words to be sent Hillary’s way.
Sanders attributed the down votes not to an opposition of states having waiting periods if they wanted to, but to federal overreach. After all his rants about the SuperPAC devil, he admitted that he had contemplated setting up his own SuperPAC.
Bernie Sanders, I-Vt, makes his opening statement as Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton listens during a Democratic presidential primary debate hosted by MSNBC at the U… All that was left was the inane rhetoric and memorized applause lines. He could just rename it the Communist Party.
Now Clinton aides are publicly addressing the very troubling trend and are urging Sanders to denounce his bros. Hillary Clinton said the way to untangle a rigged economy is to work within the system. And somehow, no one laughed.
She went on, “I think it’s time to end the very artful smear that you and your campaign have been carrying out”. I spoke to heart doctors.
“The secretary probably doesn’t know that there’s not a day that goes by when I am not asked to attack her on that issue”, he said, “and I have refrained from doing that and I will continue to refrain from doing that”. And for once, someone else beat Hillary in a lying contest.
