Tyrod Taylor’s team comes up short in Pro Bowl
Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker Sean Lee (50) of Team Irvin gains yards after an interception during the first quarter of the NFL Pro Bowl football game, Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, in Honolulu. CB Desmond Trufant played a significant amount of snaps, but Team Rice stayed away from his side for the majority of the game.
Quarterbacks Eli Manning and Russell Wilson, the top picks for Team Rice and Team Irvin, respectively, both looked fairly sharp on their opening drives.
In his two Pro Bowl appearances, the veteran signal caller now has 262 yards and six touchdowns while accumulating a 151.9 passer rating.
Team Irvin got into the end zone before halftime on a 2-yard pass from Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to Eagles running back Darren Sproles.
Carr finished the game with 198 yards through the air on 14-for-25 passing.
Team Rice made it a 21-14 game when Raiders quarterback Derek Carr found Kelce over the middle for a 10-yard touchdown.
Bucs running back Doug Martin led Team Rice with 20 yards rushing on seven carries and the game’s only touchdown on the ground, a 3-yarder in the third quarter. Taylor’s three interceptions were half of his total interception count from the 2015 season. “Playing in the Pro Bowl is a special thing because to be able to see all the incredible players across the league, who are the best players in the world and to be able to play on one field together is a really, really cool thing”.
In typical Pro Bowl-fashion, the game was played at a casual pace with limited hitting. Bennett 1-7, Ru.Wilson 1-2, J. Winston 1-0, Frederick 1-(minus 4), R.Sherman 1-(minus 22).
Irvin, a Hall of Fame receiver, grabbed Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks’ signal-caller, with the first pick in the Pro Bowl roster draft and then stacked his team with a bevy of elite pass-catchers and young running backs. Palmer played in the NFC title game last week with an injured finger, Rodgers had knee surgery after his season ended and Roethlisberger played through a shoulder injury in the AFC semifinals.
Buffalo’s Taylor got into the scoring column with a 31-yard touchdown pass to Miami’s Jarvis Landry. Players were selected without regard to conference in voting by fans, coaches and players and later assigned to Pro Bowl teams via a fantasy football-style draft.
Bridgewater, the second quarterback to appear for Team Irwin, tossed a pair of touchdown passes in the win.
