Celtics’ Isaiah Thomas To Participate In NBA All-Star Skills Competition
Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns, Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks and JJ Redick of the Los Angeles Clippers are expected to take part in the Skills competition on February 13 at Air Canada Centre arena.
The Lakers’ second-year guard will be joined by DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings), Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans), Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors), Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota Timberwolves), Isaiah Thomas (Boston Celtics), C.J. McCollum (Portland Trail Blazers) and Patrick Beverley (Houston Rockets) in the All-Star Saturday night event.
In a season that has not gone according to plan for the Los Angeles Lakers, one major bright spot has been the improvement of second-year guard, Jordan Clarkson. Though the National Basketball Association has announced that the Skills Challenge will retain its head-to-head, bracket structure from last season, matchups have yet to be announced.
The four frontcourt participants are enjoying exceptional seasons while using their array of skills to affect games in many ways. 413 from 3-point range, had been on a roll prior to his last three games, when the big forward shot 1-for-12.
Will Steph Curry make it two straight 3-Point Shootout titles?
McCollum is 16th in the National Basketball Association in scoring at 20.9 points per game, plus 4.3 assists, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals in 49 games, all starts.
The skills challenge is described as a “three-round, obstacle course type” competition that will test a player’s dribbling, passing and three-point shooting skills.
It will be the first time McCollum has participated in the event.
