National Football League wants more games in UK; London franchise a ‘realistic possibility’
On Friday, Goodell gave his State of the League address on Friday, an annual pre-Super Bowl event in which he talks about the NFL’s accomplishments and challenges over the past year and going forward.
But it was what Goodell did – not said – that’s getting attention.
Spoiler alert: It’s as awkward as you’re imagining.
Goodell has spoken to the competition committee, many members of the league and players that he believes “the league should pursue a policy where if there are two personal fouls in a game there’s an automatic ejection of the player”.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced at the first NFL Women’s Summit that the so-called Rooney Rule will expand to women for all executive positions.
“I think our biggest standard has to be what we expect from the National Football League and what our fans expect from the NFL”.
In December, Beckham, a receiver for the New York Giants, was allowed to stay in a game despite drawing three personal-foul penalties for unnecessary roughness, including one for a diving helmet-to-helmet hit on cornerback Josh Norman, whose Carolina Panthers will play in Sunday’s Super Bowl.
“I think it’s very important to have a stage on which you celebrate our great players, what they can do on and off the field”, Goodell said.
“We don’t disclose all the specifics on that because it’s meant as a deterrent”, Goodell said.
“The process is that we’ll go back and we’ll look at how he’s conducted himself over the last several months, what he’s done to make sure it’s consistent with the terms of his suspension”, Goodell said. “It’s a great community and if there’s something that we can work out, something we can develop a stadium that would allow a team to be successful there that’s something we should consider and I told him that”. Goodell said he met with Missouri governor Jay Nixon shortly after Los Angeles was awarded the relocation of the St. Louis Rams.
The commissioner said the Raiders have options, such as whichever city between San Diego and Los Angeles the Chargers opt against, as well as Las Vegas and San Antonio and Goodell’s charge is to finalize plans that benefit the teams and the cities.
‘I always think diversity is still an issue we’re not finished we’re not done and so much of what we do is incomplete so we’re going to continue to make progress here’. I’m not focused on it right now.
“I don’t see so many people walking away from the game”.
