Chris Christie Hits Marco Rubio on Abortion Stance
Christie discounts the chances of fellow establishment candidates Jeb Bush and John Kasich, who are also seeking to advance in the mainstream lane to contend with GOP frontrunners Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.
Meanwhile, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says Rubio isn’t qualified to be president and is vowing to continue his campaign regardless of the outcome of the New Hampshire primary.
Trump, whose campaign operation has been criticized for failing to turn out voters in Iowa, added that he thinks people will come out to vote for him in New Hampshire.
Here in San Diego, the Republican candidates have conservative voters picking sides, but is there a consensus candidate that they can agree on for the oval office or will the California Primary be the deciding factor? Donors can contribute unlimited amounts of money to super PACs, a system that’s helped some candidates stay in the presidential contest even as their campaign fundraising lags.
According to a report from WHDH, Rubio managed to gain three points with an overall poll rating of 15 percent. “No generation’s ever done that to their kids, what this generation of leaders is about to do”, Rubio said. And Representative Matt Salmon co-founded the House Freedom caucus showing Rubio has support among rightwing Tea Party types as well.
But this past week, they’ve homed in on one particular punching bag: Marco Rubio. “So when the time comes and it’s appropriate, we’ll do so.”Why do you deliver the same speech wherever you go?” the second questioner asked.”‘Cause it’s my message”, he said.
“If I get smoked here it’s over”, Kasich told NBC News.
In an interview with CNN’s Jamie Gangel on Friday, Bush hit back at the idea that drawing a contrast with Rubio is bad for the Republican Party.
New Hampshire is renowned for its independence and contrarian voting habits, and anything can happen there.
Christie has accused Rubio of being overly scripted, averse to taking more than a handful of questions at campaign stops and labeled him the “boy in the bubble”.
“I got asked this morning by someone, how do I feel about Iowa and I said, well heck, I did exactly what I thought I would do”, Christie told said in Bedford New Hampshire Tuesday morning.
“He needs to coalesce the vote before he can challenge Trump”, said Republican pollster Greg Strimple, who is unaligned with any of the campaigns.
Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie is pro-life and has a strong record as New jersey’s governor of vetoing taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business multiple times.
“We need to take him out of that controlled atmosphere because, believe me, it won’t be controlled against Hillary Clinton this fall”, he said. Trump thundered on Twitter that the “state of Iowa” should nullify the results and order a do-over – never mind that it is the Iowa Republican Party, not the state government, that runs the caucuses.
Recent polls have shown Trump with a significant lead over his competitors in the state, but his loss in Iowa and Marco Rubio’s stronger-than-expected finish there could shift the dynamics.
That precious third spot was held by Rubio – and it appears the cluster of establishment rivals trailing him – Christie, Jeb Bush and Ohio Gov. John Kasich – have decided that their only discernible path to victory involves pounding down Door No. 3.
“Well thank you, Cokie, for the characterization of the rudeness quotient, I appreciate that”, Christie said.
