Jeb Bush: New Hampshire race is ‘wide-open’
“I’ll be ready Saturday night”.
NBC declined comment on whether Sanders would appear on the show.
DETROW: Republicans aren’t too keen on comparisons to Barack Obama these days, but there’s a bit of Obama in Rubio’s candidacy – a powerful personal narrative that taps into the American dream and the visual appeal of a telegenic first-term lawmaker and his young family. The senator replied, “I am Larry David”.
Jeanette Lackey, 54, also an Exeter Republican, said she’s been following Rubio for some time and is nearly sure she’ll vote for him next Tuesday.
“This isn’t the student council election, everybody”, Christie said.
But Bush is ultimately banking on his experience as a businessman and former Florida governor to convince voters that he’s best suited for the Oval Office, arguing that the three top finishers in the Iowa caucuses -Ted Cruz, Donald Trump and Marco Rubio – aren’t up to the job.
Grace Freije, 63, of Bow, New Hampshire, said she had made a decision to support Rubio after gravitating earlier toward Christie. In New Hampshire, he wants to turn that momentum into a new role as the GOP’s establishment candidate, something party leaders can rally around. Many are in New Hampshire, and many more are in the next-voting southern states.
DURHAM, N.H. (AP) Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) is betting big on positivity.
A voter at a community center in Hollis asked Kasich how he could replicate and scale up his successes in OH if he becomes president.
Speaking of next Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, Christie asserted that Rubio’s position is one the state’s “voters would be really concerned about”.
Throughout this period, Romney has both been urged to run again – something he has resisted – or to take a more active role by throwing his weight, and his fundraising network, behind one of the GOP candidates. “Because in New Hampshire, you all sort this stuff out in your own quirky way. Wait your time!” Kasich told him.
The poll includes interviews with a random sample of 751 adult residents of New Hampshire, including 312 who say they plan to vote in the Democratic presidential primary and 287 who plan to vote in the Republican presidential primary.
The debate will begin at 8 p.m.
During the same news conference, Christie called Rubio “the master of the drive-by town hall” for meetings that run shorter in length compared to Christie’s typical two-hour-long town hall and quipped that “every day is Groundhog Day for the Rubio campaign”, with Rubio sticking to scripted remarks.
Christie is more publicly counting on New Hampshire, telling the Washington Post that he would have to reconsider his campaign if he doesn’t beat his fellow governors, Kasich and Bush, in the state.
Donald Trump continues to hold a wide lead among likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire, according to a new CNN/WMUR tracking poll, with the pack vying for second place is beginning to break up. Senator Pat Toomey represents purple state Pennsylvania and is up for election this year signaling support from Rubio for GOP actors focused on electability in November.
With Trump the favorite to win New Hampshire, other candidates are aiming for a strong showing that could help them stay in the race.
